Data Security Challenges and Cloud Computing †MyAssignmenthelp

Question: Talk about the Data Security Challenges and Cloud Computing. Answer: Presentation: Primarily two methodologies can be actualized by Regional Garden to improve their robotization framework in office. The methodologies that can be executed by Regional Garden are Ad Hoc Approach or Structured Approach. Impromptu Approach For making office robotization in Regional Gardens, the Ad Hoc approach is one of the route by which the framework can be made simpler (Bruneo, 2016). In Ad Hoc Approach, any kind of systems are not followed to finish the testing. The Ad Hoc Approach gives numerous favorable circumstances. Specially appointed methodology for the most part actualizes simple establishment that is extremely simple for application and furthermore can be executed effectively with no intricacy. The methodology of Ad Hoc is quick and extremely less measure of time is taken for unraveling the tasks of the framework. The Ad Hoc process needn't bother with any documentation for its application. This gives them simple usage of the methodology. There are numerous disservices too with the usage of Ad Hoc approach. The procedures that are commonly expected to finish the activity in the business doesn't have a specific issue and this issue is looked by a large portion of the associations (Manvi Shyam, 2014). There are different issues too that are connected with Ad Hoc approach. The methodology is totally subject to the analyzer who does the methodology. Organized Approach Another technique that can be actualized by Regional Gardens is the Structured Approach. The methodology that is by and large followed by the organized is for executing all procedures that are associated with the business (Rodriguez Buyya, 2017). The organized procedure is the most simple procedure that that can be executed by Regional Gardens. Organized Approach follows numerous focal points. This methodology is very easy to use that is execution of this procedure is exceptionally simple (Almorsy, Grundy Mller, 2016). This follows all the procedures and can be executed without any problem. A few detriments are additionally there in Structured Process. This procedure by and large gives enormous measure of information and this methodology is a more slow methodology when contrasted with others. Usage of PaaS and IaaS With the usage of Cloud Computing, the Regional Gardens has taken the correct choice to make all the procedures of their business to run in a set up way. In this segment, primarily two kinds of distributed computing are talked about that the Regional Gardens can get (Ali, Khan Vasilakos, 2015). The kinds of cloud foundation are Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). Contributions of IaaS The IaaS Structure offers the system with Computation framework, includes servers, offers arrange network, virtualization condition virtualization, stockpiling, just as working frameworks (Hashem et al., 2015). The IaaS additionally offers equipment and the server farm that is kept up by a portion of the specialist organization of distributed computing. What's more, the assets associated with machines are left for the board of different clients. The administration of IaaS is entirely adaptable contrasted with PaaS. Administration Utilization The IaaS Cloud Computing is commonly used if there is capital forthright, or the space required for foundation if not accessible. It additionally assists with controlling and keep up the over assets. Specialist organizations of IaaS Many specialist co-ops are built up in the market who offers support for IaaS Cloud Computing. The Providers are Amazon EC2, Google Compute Engine, Windows Azure, Amazon EC2, Linode, Rack space, Digital Ocean. Contributions of PaaS The PaaS offers administrations to create , send, test, and host to keep up all the applications. Memory Usage, Operating Systems, web server, database, CPU, foundation, and the security of the system that is given by the specialist organization of PaaS (Sadiku, Musa Momoh, 2014). They can likewise approach numerous clients simultaneously and afterward bolster the advancement of the joint effort of the group. An outsider controls the capacity to utilize the segments of the product. Administration Utilization In PaaS, the product and the equipment can't be altered appropriately for the application improvement required (Buyya et al., 2015). The diminishing time in the market is commonly given a need. Specialist co-ops of PaaS The specialist organizations of are AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Heroku, Google App Engine, Apache Stratos, Engine Yard, and Windows Azure. The IaaS has numerous impediments also. The issues that are confronted executing the IaaS foundation are: Extravagant: The IaaS framework is over the top expensive and all organizations can't bear the cost of the IaaS foundation. Reinforcements: There are customers who are capable essentially for reinforcements. Hindrances of PaaS Infrastructure are: Security: This is the most significant issue in PaaS. The security that is given by PaaS foundation isn't acceptable in any way. No Access on the Platform: The Platform that is utilized doesn't have any power over the stage in PaaS framework. The suggested arrangement that the Regional Gardens can follow is the Infrastructure-as-a-Service for moving every one of its information in a made sure about structure. Suggestion for executing the Cloud Model Framework as-a-Service Stage as-a-Service Programming as-a-Service IaaS is a distributed computing that gives the business a virtualized asset of figuring on the Internet. In PaaS distributed computing, outsider supplier for the most part conveys programming and equipment devices for applications creating. In SaaS foundation, the clients are associated and uses the use of cloud. IaaS gives Flexibility, versatility, Saves the expense, and accomplishes the work quicker when contrasted with others. This foundation is financially savvy, has less virtual administration, and by and large backings improved variant of combination (Ibrahim, Hamlyn-Harris Grundy, 2016). The SaaS framework is financially savvy, and the product is steady. With this applications are overseen without any problem. Burdens of IaaS is that the client is commonly liable for reinforcements. What's more, there is no power over the servers. In this framework, there is a high security chance, there is no control on information handling, and this foundation is very tedious. Burdens of SaaS is that it has less authority over the sending, and does nt have any control on the product. Proposal for Cloud Model in Regional Gardens Maintaining at the top of the priority list all the points of interest and disservices of three cloud foundation, the cloud model that the Regional Gardens can utilize is the Infrastructure-as-a-Service model. This model will be valuable in sharing the administrations in a business. This assists with coordinating the product bundles in Microsoft Office and is exceptionally configurable. The IaaS foundation has numerous focal points over other cloud models (Rao Selvamani, 2015). The security of the IaaS framework is made sure about and safe with a wide range of information engaged with the business. The development of all the SharePoint engaged with IaaS should be profoundly made sure about. The speed associated with the IaaS structure is generally high contrasted with others and can be shared without any problem. This framework is adaptable also. The expense of executing the IaaS cloud model is commonly high. This can be settled by the Regional Gardens by limiting all the customization. The IaaS cloud model has less authority over the servers. The Regional Gardens can diminishes this by executing the SSL testaments. References Ali, M., Khan, S. U., Vasilakos, A. V. (2015). What exactly is Summit Learning (And why cant billionaires pay for their own materials)

A couple of days ago (4/21/19), the New York Times ran an article about a Kansas community’s rebellion against the Summit Learning platform, a controversial ed-tech initiative funded in large part by the Chan-Zuckerberg foundation. Normally, I try to hold myself at as much of a distance as possible from the ed-tech world, but in this case, I seem to have acquired an inadvertent stake in things: last school year, while looking at my analytics (see, I’m data-driven!), I suddenly noticed that I was receiving regular traffic from summit.org and that, moreover, the number of daily referrals from that site corresponded almost exactly to the number of hits on my â€Å"how to use a dash† post. Obviously, a link to the piece had been incorporated into the Summit platform. When I first discovered this, my curiosity was piqued, and so I spent some time on the main Summit website trying to figure out where my blog was linked to. (Is it just me, or is the ransom-note motif not positively creepy?) Predictably, aside from a handful of vague, weak sample lessons that could be downloaded, I was unable to access anything more substantive. Still, I assumed that more real lessons—even really poorly constructed ones—had to exist†¦right? At that point, I didnt really have the time or the inclination to investigate further. Then, as I was reading the Times article, I came across this: In September, some students stumbled onto questionable content while working in the Summit platform, which often directs them to click on links to the open web. In one class covering Paleolithic history, Summit included a link to an article in The Daily Mail, the British newspaper, that showed racy ads with bikini-clad women. For a list of the Ten Commandments, two parents said their children were directed to a Christian conversion site. Ms. Tavenner said building a curriculum from the open internet meant that a Daily Mail article was fair game for lesson plans. In light of Ms. Tavenner’s comment regarding the â€Å"open Internet,† I decided to check back and see if I could take another look at those lesson samples—but, surprise, surprise, they appeared to have been removed. And so now I wonder: Exactly how often is often? Does the program, despite all its lofty bullshit rhetoric, essentially consist of nothing more than a series of links to random free articles around the web?† Given that Summit is not actually charging districts for the program (in exchange for vast quantities of student data, of course), that seems entirely plausible. Content-development costs money, after all. If anyone has direct experience with/access to Summit and could enlighten me as to exactly how the program is (not) structured, I would very much appreciate it. Let me be clear: while I am more than happy to have individual teachers use my free resources to supplement their curriculum as they see fit, my work is under no circumstances intended to be an easy â€Å"out† for tech billionaires too lazy and cheap to fund an actual program. Interestingly, the lesson in question is quite far removed from the hippie-dippy, project-based, learning-about-learning rhetoric of authenticity that Summit has borrowed so beautifully from the progressive movement; in fact, its about as structured and didactic as these things get, and so one has to wonder what value it could possibly serve in a program like Summit at all. So for that reason, I will be disabling the â€Å"how to use a dash† post, at least for the time being. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience, but I have no interest in having my work co-opted for this nonsense.

Definition and Examples of Word Grammar (WG)

Word grammar is a general theory of language structure which holds that grammatical knowledge is largely a body (or network) of knowledge about words. Word grammar (WG) was originally developed in the 1980s by British linguist Richard Hudson (University College London).   Observations [Word Grammar theory] consists of the [following] generalization: A language is a network of entities related by propositions. -Richard Hudson, Word Grammar Dependency RelationsIn WG, syntactic structures are analyzed in terms of dependency relations between single words, a parent and a dependent. Phrases are defined by dependency structures which consist of a word plus the phrases rooted in any of its dependents. In other words, WG syntax does not use phrase structure in describing sentence structure, because everything that needs to be said about sentence structure can be formulated in terms of dependencies between single words. -Eva Eppler Language as a NetworkThe conclusions so far, then, are more or less uncontroversial:[T]he idea of language as a conceptual network actually leads to new questions and highly controversial conclusions. The words network and conceptual are both contentious. We start with the notion of language as a network. In WG, the point of this claim is that language is nothing but a network--there are no rules, principles, or parameters to complement the network. Everything in language can be defined formally in terms of nodes and their relations. This is also accepted as one of the main tenets of cognitive linguistics. -Richard Hudson, Language Networks: The New Word Grammar.   Word Grammar (WG) and Construction Grammar (CG)The central claim of WG is that language is organized as a cognitive network; the major consequence of this claim is that the theory eschews part-whole structures such as are central in Phrase Structure Grammar.   Phrases are not basic to WG analyses and so the central unit of organization within WG is the dependency, which is a pairwise relationship between two words. In this respect, the theory is different from Construction Grammar (CG), because WG has no level of analysis which is larger than the word and  the (pairwise) dependency which associates two words. . . . There are, however, some key points of similarity between WG and CG: both theories assume a symbolic relationship between the units  of syntax and an associated semantic structure; both theories are usage based;  both theories are declarative; both theories have a structured lexicon; and both theories exploit default inheritance. -Nikolas Gisborne, Dependencies Are Constructions: A Case Study in Predicative Complementation.   Sources Richard Hudson,  Word Grammar. Although with spontaneous conversations, though, it is necessary to concentrate on a few set of associated ideas. Regulate the league or speech according to the audience. A practical audience would gain from terminology and acronyms. However, if the listeners are having an issue understanding the concepts that is being sent across Then it might perhaps be essential to focus on speaking at a slower pace and also offering any general accustomed Illustrations for a clearer understanding.A critical examination of a best solution for this scenario Is the following; In this case It Is Important to follow the steps above but to ultimately not to use one tone In the complete speech. By doing so it will allow one to sound very dull, and boring as the en giving the speech and also it reflects that way on the character of the one giving the speech. Another tip would be to study some great speakers such as Abraham Lincoln, John F Kennedy, or Winston Churchill Just to list a few. These speakers were amongst the est. most well-known presenters In our history. And the tone I know goes up and down as stated previously. So the refined solution would be to first make sure to know the audience and To make sure there is a point to the argument or speech and be sure to stay with it. Make sure to Speak undoubtedly and clear making sure to modify the speech according to the audience that is listening. Last step listed is to make sure to check and modify the use of the tone in the whole speech In the final solution Do not be to overbearing. When the audience are handled in a way that makes them feel like they re not smart or like they are little kids( if not speaking to a younger crowd), the audience might turn unreceptive and it may be followed by simply Just ignoring the speaker or walking out swearing. And It Is Important to note the tone or sound of what condescends sound Like and It can be established as when the speaker use a more of a song like tones In the dialogue or to let out a long groan nominally, or If the speaker put down the listeners at all in the speech it can create hard feelings and stir up anger. Milton the Doctrine and Discipline of Divorce Essay Example

Milton the Doctrine and Discipline of Divorce Paper The Doctrine and Discipline of Divorce by John Milton led to a great stir in society during his time. Milton used his ideas and made many deferent Biblical names, even Christ, sound Like they agreed with him. In his prose, he took words from the Bible and changed the meaning to make the Bible sound as If It preached the same Idea he tried to convey. The prose argues that the main purpose of marriage Is not to procreate, but to share a deeper, meaningful relationship with your significant other. Milton wanted to propose irreconcilable differences as grounds for divorce. That indisposition, unfitness, or contrariety of mind, rising from a cause in nature unchangeable, hindering and ever likely to hinder the main benefit of conjugal society, which are solace and peace, is a greater reason of divorce then natural frigidity, especially if there be no children and that there be mutual consent. (IPPP) Milton tries to say that if the nature of two people will not produce harmony then they should not have to stay together. If they both agree that the differences they share cause too much negativity then a divorce would be the best resolution, especially with no children Involved cause then they have not followed the basis for the marriage. The first passage Milton uses comes from Deuteron 24:1-4. Deuteron uses the word uncleanness, which Milton puts his own meaning to. The passage follows: When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favor in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and senders her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is an abomination before the Lord: and thou shall not cause the land to sin, which the Lord thy God give thee for an Inheritance. L] Milton says that when translated by the Hebrew the terms some uncleanness means any real nakedness. The notion of any real nakedness refers to that of the mind or the body. The cause of divorce mentioned in the Law is translated some uncleanness, but in Hebrew it sounds nakedness of ought, or any real nakedness: which by all of the learned interpreters is referred to the mind, as well as to the body. And what greater nakedness or unfitness then that which hinders ever the solace and peaceful society of the marled couple, and what hinders that more then the unfitness and defectiveness of an uncongenial mind. IPPP) Milton attempts to change the mind of the Parliament by making a suggestion that the Hebrew interpret the passage differently. Although it mess Like a logical way to persuade, the Parliament did not care for the Hebrew, thus not acknowledging Millions attempt to change their minds. The next passage Milton mentions taken from 1 Corinthians 7:8, 9 leads him Into the usage of the word burn. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It Is good for them if they abide even as l. But if they cannot contain, let the marry: for it is netter to marry than to Turn. Ill] Milton takes ten word Turn to mean a easels Tort conversation. The burn suggests that the marriage will not survive without the communication between the husband and wife. Milton agues that without the mental connection, the physical part of the relationship will not exist. Without the physical attraction the marriage could not keep up with the standards set to have children. Milton shows his belief in conversation and mental connection creates the feeling of love not the desire of physical attraction. As for that other burning, which is but as it were the venom of a lusty and over-abounding concoction, strict life and labor, with an abatement of a full diet may keep that low and obedient enough: but this pure and more inbreed desire of Joining to it self in conjugal fellowship a fit inversion soul(which desire is properly called love) is stronger then death, as the spouse of Christ thought, many waters cannot quench it, neither can the floods drown it. IPPP) In another piece of Millions prose he states that the burn could also constitute the need for another person. Milton centers his argument for the basis of marriage on the prevention of loneliness. Marriage therefore was giving as a remedy of that trouble: but what might this burning mean? Certainly not the mere motion of carnal lust, not the mere goad of a sensitive desire; God does not ironically take care for such chattel. What is it then but that desire which God put into Adam in Paradise before he knew the sin of incontinence; that desire which God saw it was not good that man should be left alone to burn in; the desire and longingly to put off an unkindly solitariness by united another body, but not to without a fit souls to his in the cheerful society of wedlock. (IPPP) Milton says that the remedy for such burning can only come from the presence of another person. When Milton states to put off the unkindly solitariness, it shows God made both Adam and Eve to revert solitude. The final piece in the prose where Milton attempts to sway the audience into believing his argument happens with Christ. Milton tries to say that Christ made a harsh statement, not because he meant it, but only to instill strict rules where the Pharisees did not. Where the Pharisees were strict, there Christ seems remises; where they were too remises, he saw it needful to seem most severe: in one place he censures an enchant look to be adultery already committed: another time he passes over actual adultery with lessee reproof then for an unchaste look; not so heavily modeling secret weakness, as open malice: So here he may be Justly thought to have giving this rigid sentence against divorce, not to cut off all remedy from a good man who finds himself consuming away in disconsolate and uninjured matrimony, but to lay bridle upon the bold abuses of those over-weaning Rabies; IPPP) Milton went out on a limb trying to take what Chrisms word and Just say that Christ did not mean what he said. Now the argument Just revolves around the idea that Christ only said that marriage could take place if the partner committed adultery because the Pharisees had become too lenient. Milton tried hard too push this idea into the minds of those in the Parliament. The Parliament did not accept the prose and wanted all of the copies burned. Although Milton did not get what he wanted accomplished he still found a way to keep his ideas. Millions ideas and beliefs became realities far after he passed away. Even though the rational behind his ides sometimes lacked in a following, Milton still Delved In teem strongly Ana wangle-nearly. [I] http://www. Baryons. Net/milestone/divorce. HTML http://www. Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder Abstract The purpose of the paper is to describe the growth of the borderline personality disorder diagnosis, underlining the cause, symptoms, medications, and psychotherapy used to treat BPD. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a behavior disorder brought about by long-standing disruption of personality function and described by strange inconsistency and intensity of moods.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Borderline Personality Disorder specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Such moods can also distress interpersonal and cognition affairs. The main causes of BPD are childhood trauma, desertion, or abuse, but medical analysts have also stated that genetic inclinations, environmental aspects, and brain defects, as well as neurobiological aspects are among the attributes. The research was done through internet sources and books, such as Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV-TR and other medic al sources. The results show that borderline personality disorder can be cured through medicine and psychotherapy approaches, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Schema Focused Therapy, Metallization Based Therapy, and Transference Focused Psychotherapy. Introduction DSM-IV-TR describes Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), according to Axis II, as persistent sequence of instability of interpersonal relations, personality, and impact that started during early adulthood and found in a range of situations provided in several frameworks (Clarkin Foelsch, 2010). The initial criterion includes impulsivity in certain areas that are possibly self-damaging, such as too much spending, careless driving, drug abuse, and sexual practices. According to American Psychiatric Association (2000, p. 706), â€Å"the essential feature of Borderline Personality Disorder is a pervasive pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self-image, and affects, and marked impulsivity that begins by early adulthood and is present in a variety of contexts.† This paper discuses the causes, symptoms, and treatment, (types of talk therapy and medications) of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Causes of Borderline Personality Disorder Just like other mental disorders, the causes of borderline personality disorder (BPD) are complex and not entirely identified. The main causes of BPD are childhood trauma, desertion, or abuse, but medical analysts have also stated that genetic inclinations, environmental aspects, and brain defects, as well as neurobiological aspects are among the attributes. There are studies that assert that post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) and personality disorders are directly associated and suggest that borderline personality disorder could be brought about by a combination that may engage a traumatic upbringing, hectic maturational incidences and a vulnerable character within the adulthood and teenage stages.Advertising Looking for resea rch paper on health medicine? Several people undergoing BPD have the possibility of childhood abuse and abandonment during their early years (Clarkin Foelsch, 2010). Borderline Personality Disorder Symptoms Symptoms of BPD consist of instability of interpersonal relations, personality, and moods, along with the series of spontaneous behaviors. People undergoing BPD primarily go through such symptoms that started during adolescence stage or early adulthood, and they are likely to be reported for many years (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2007). Individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) often fear being deserted by loved ones, families, or partners and frequently bearing in mind or imagining that loved ones are abandoning them, even wh en the situation is not true. They also experience deep relationships with piles of divides and differences or conflict, and they have some regular arguments with partners and loved ones (Herman Perry, 2009). Borderline Personality Disorder Management Psychotherapy Continuous outpatient psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is an essential section of all interventions for borderline personality disorder, and studies have reported that numerous kinds of psychotherapy are valuable in reducing the symptoms of BPD. Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, and medications are normally used to treat BPD, but most studies have shown more recommendation on psychotherapy over medications. There are several steps and types of psychotherapy that treat BPD and include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Schema Focused Therapy, Metallization Based Therapy, and Transference Focused Psychotherapy. Dialectical Behavior Therapy Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a cognitive behavioral therapy that shows it is a ther apy that concentrates on the function of behaviors (for example actions) and cognition (feelings and beliefs) in the progress and the intervention of BPD. DBT encompasses various changes to the usual cognitive behavioral aspects of therapy so that it can help particularly decrease the symptoms of BPD. Normally, DBT includes a mixture of online coaching, private psychotherapy, and group skill guidance, even though some exemptions are present. People under DBT are requested to assess their symptoms and to apply the acquired skills daily, whereas their development is monitored during therapy. There are some major kinds of skills that are contained in dialectical behavior therapy skills training (Herman Perry, 2009).Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Borderline Personality Disorder specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The first is mindfulness medication skill that focuses on training to observe, ex-plain, and engage in every experience, which includes feelings, beliefs, sensations, and elements that occur outwardly in the environment without classifying such experiences as ‘bad’ or ‘good.’ Interpersonal effectiveness skill is the second skill that concentrates on learning to declare effectively your necessities and to control conflict with other loved ones or friends. Finally, emotion regulation skill is a section that enables people with BPD to discover and control emotional behaviors. Schema Focused Therapy SFT is a kind of talk therapy that concentrates on understanding and changing specific unsafe approaches of thinking with the intention of solving the issue of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is contained in this section of talk therapy and often engages in other ways of psychotherapy that seem to improve the status of patients with BPD. The intention of this type of talk therapy is that when some requirements of children in their early stages (for example parental love, protection, appreciation) are not met sufficiently or appropriately, children generate unsafe approaches of adapting and interacting with the environment they reside. Schema theory suggests that some of the symptoms of borderline personality disorder are brought about by irresistible childhood experiences (for example mistreatment or abandonment from caregivers), which bring about the creation of maladaptive early schemas. The primary objectives of SFT for borderline personality disorder are to make out the appropriate schemas of patient and to connect these schemas to previous incidences and existing symptoms of BPD (Herman Perry, 2009). Mentalization Based Therapy Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) used to treat BDP is a kind of talk therapy or psychotherapy that concentrates on the aptitude to ‘mentalize’ or distinguish desires, needs, emotions, and beliefs, and observe the ways these inner situations are connected t o behavior. MBT applied in borderline personality disorder is a psychodynamic psychotherapy that signifies that the concentration of therapy is on the connection between the person with BPD and the therapist. In this process, the therapist will concentrate on the existing (instead of the past) and will help the patient to improve or recover mentalization ability.Advertising Looking for research paper on health medicine? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More To help this, the therapist asks the patient the questions concerning the way his thoughts or feelings are linked to his daily behavior in the session. In MBT, the therapist will not provide recommendation or views, but therapist will help patient determine inner situations and can help create new approaches of mentalizing (Trulla Sher, 2006). Transference Focused Therapy Transference Focused Therapy (TFT) used to treat BPD is a psychotherapy that concentrates on applying patient’s relationship with the therapist to alter the way patient connects with other people in the globe or during daily activities. Therapists under this process of TFT for borderline personality disorder consider that the main issues that bring about the BPD’s symptoms are linked to dysfunctional relationships during early ages that go on to influence teenager and adult relationship performance. Rather than the therapist addressing issues concerning the way the patient relates to caregivers, the patient spends usual time addressing issues concerning the way he is relating to his therapist. The therapist is also likely to stay unbiased in his kind of psychotherapy (Trulla Sher, 2006). For instance, the therapist will not provide the patient their views or opinions and does not engage in activities outside the therapy session, apart from instances of emergencies. Borderline Personality Disorder Medications The medications for BPD have been reported to decrease various borderline personality disorder symptoms, but there are inadequate medications accepted by medication body to cure BPD. Additionally, medications can be applied to care for psychological situations that regularly reappear with borderline personality disorder. Medications can be mainly useful for BPD when they are applied together with psychotherapy and other interventions. While antidepressants were precisely generated for people with extreme depressive disorder and other major disorders based on low mood, seve ral people experiencing BPD are provided such medications (Trulla Sher, 2006). However, these medications appear not to have an effective impact on other symptoms of the disorder, such as impulsivity and anger. Conclusion This discussion suggests that childhood emotional or physical abuse and abandonment are widely believed to cause borderline personality disorder and related to indicators of medical severity among people living with BPD. Childhood abuse and physical or emotional abuses are reported that they are interpreters of both antisocial and paranoid personality disorder, and such conclusions help categorize previous remarks of the connection between childhood sexual abuse and borderline personality disorder. Borderline Personality Disorder Borderline Personality Disorder, abbreviated as BPD, is a personality disorder characterized by pervasive and persistently unstable emotions, self-image and interpersonal relationships. Due to the stated instability of emotions in victims of the disorder, the victims usually have an overly impulsive character.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Borderline Personality Disorder specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This makes the individual unable to have healthy interpersonal relationships and thus the person undergoes a lot of problems at home and even at work. The worst thing about BPD is, perhaps, the fact that its victim does not easily realize that he/she has a personality disorder and thus he/she may not seek help. Due to increased awareness and concerns about BPD, its treatment has greatly improved over the years. Among its many treatments is psychotherapy in which either the victim or a group of vulnerable pe ople are taken through therapy. This kind of therapy works best if the patient is given time by an empathetic and non-judgmental therapist to talk about the difficulties he/she is currently experiencing and also the difficulties he/she has experienced in the past. The therapy should also be properly planned so as to ensure it is consistent and bound to bear fruit. Barely two decades ago a therapy procedure known as, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, was invented for specifically treating BPD. Recent research on the effectiveness of the procedure is very promising (Grohol 1). The studies show that its effectiveness is even higher than individual psychotherapy. There are also pharmacological solutions to the BPD problem. The prescriptions are given depending on the severity of the symptoms shown by the victim. Among the prescriptions are mood stabilizers and antidepressants which help get rid of moodiness in patients of BPD. An example of an anti-depressant that can be used is lithium car bonate.Advertising Looking for research paper on psychology? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More In cases where the thinking of the patient is distorted, the doctor may prescribe antipsychotic drugs which greatly help the patient. The therapist must also ensure that he/she treats problems related to drug abuse for the patient to benefit from the therapy sessions. It may also be necessary to hospitalize the patient for some time if he/she shows self-destructive characteristics like suicide. The hospitalization will come in handy as a relief from the external stress that the patient may be experiencing. After treatment, the patient should be able to tolerate anxiety, control impulses, have an increased sense of self-worth and be able to make stable relationships (Paris 1). Prevention of BPD is, arguably, more difficult than its treatment. Research shows that people who develop BPD have an innate disposition of having more intense reactions to small stressful conditions than other people. From this statement, it is clear that BPD is genetic. This is despite the fact that a person may develop the Personality Disorder if he/she is unable to maturely and wisely handle stressful experiences that occurred in the past and present challenges. However, to prevent the occurrence of BPD in such people, they should be raised without abusive experiences in their childhood and mentored to develop a calm attitude towards dealing with stressful conditions (Corelli 1). They should also learn to be active in coming up with pragmatic solutions to personal and societal problems. This will enable then to shun a passive character in times of crisis which has been proven to lead to a more impulsive character. Children who develop this disorder at early stages of their lives should be facilitated to be engaged in more social activities that can help them develop good interpersonal skills. By passing through a variety of soc ial experiences and getting appropriate advice and guidance in times of distress, such children can shun BPD and grow up to be normal adults. BPD is prevalent for people who are in the early adulthood stage. Its victims usually have a history of unstable relationship patterns which is mostly as a result of early disappointments in social interactions and self-image. The unstable pattern of interactions and emotions reveals itself in different settings and it does not only exhibit itself at home or at work. One of the reasons why BPD is not diagnosed in minors is due to the developmental changes that occur at this age. However, people under the age of 18 years may still be diagnosed with the disorder in the case of a pervasive disturbance and holistic criteria (Gunderson 1).Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Borderline Personality Disorder specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More As evidenced in the discussion above, BPD is one of the most complicated personality disorders. It occurs in individuals who may even deny having any personality disorder and affects their lives adversely. BPD patients are characterized with job losses, school drop outs, inability to keep friends for long and inability to have a healthy personal life. It is therefore of essence that individuals with this problem be approached by concerned parties and be given the appropriate treatment. Better still, if a person is identified as being in the process of developing BPD, he/she should be advised accordingly and facilitated to avoid developing the disorder. All in all, BPD is a serious disorder that shatters the life of its victim by making him/her unable to function in a society. A brief history of Fidel Castro

A brief history of Fidel Castro This paper will discuss a brief history of Fidel Castro, his leadership styles, characteristics, and the determinants that occurred during his rise to prominence. It provides his sources of power, and further examines his effectiveness or non effectiveness as a leader. Research on Fidel Castro and his leadership was conducted through online sources which include three academic. Importance: What relationship could be found between the Fidel Castro, the followers, and the situation? What were his perceived positive and negative qualities? What outstanding traits could be detected within Fidel Castro? About Fidel Castro Fidel Alejandro (Ruz) Castro was born in Biran Cuba on August 13th 1926 to Angel Castro and Lina Ruz in the Eastern Province of Cuba. Fidel was the third child of his siblings by father, Angel Castro. Although he was born out of wedlock, he was privileged to upper-middle class living environments. He was educated in a private boarding school, attended college and later went on to Harvard Law School. At Harvard, he became engrossed in the political climate in Cuba especially as it relates to the nationalism, anti-imperialism and socialism. (Castro’s Biography, 2010) Castro was married to Mirta Diaz Balart. They had one son whose name was Fidelito which meant â€Å"little Fidel†. Her family was wealthy and Fidel Castro capitalized on this opportunity and as a result was exposed to a much wealthier lifestyle and at the same time, was able to network with key political associations. The marriage ended after six years because of a lack of financial support for his family. Mirta was his second wife. (Castro’s Biography, 2010) Castro’s enthusiasm for reform and social justice led him to the Dominican Republic in an attempt to help overthrow Mr. Rafael Trujillo. Although this attempt was not successful, this did not deter him from the fight for social justice. He was part of an anti communist party that was formed with the aim of exposing government corruption, developing strategies to gain economic independence and implement social reform in Cuba. Although his attempts to overthrow the leader at the time, General Fulgencio Bartista failed, he never gave up. He was sentenced to jail for those attempted coups but continued the fight to become Cuba’s leader, in an effort to make the changes he was hoping to fulfill. This long struggle was finally realized on January 1st, 1959 when he assumed the leadership of the government. He appointed his brother, Raul Castro the duties of commander of the armed forces on February 15th 1959. Leader type and history â€Å"Charismatic leaders are exceptionally self-confident, are strongly motivated to attain and assert influence, and have strong conviction in the moral correctness of their beliefs† (House charisma and intellectually simulated that in itself helped Castro achieve the drastic change he sort for Cuba. That is the social and political reform he aimed to achieve as a leader.

Examine the application of the maxims of equity in the context of Essay

Examine the application of the maxims of equity in the context of trusts - Essay Example Under trust, the trustee is a person appointed by law to hold the property on behalf of the beneficiary (Clements and Abass, 2009). In so doing, the trustee is under obligation or submitting to a form of legal obligation mainly referred to as the English law. Moreover, a trustee may be bound by onerous responsibilities, mainly those imposed by the statute, by general principles of equity, or by the trust instrument (Oakley, Parker and Mellows, 2008). What is important is that there are severe costs awaiting trustees, particularly those who neglect their duties or violate the terms and conditions of the trust. Essentially, thus, there must be certainty and clarity when setting up a trust. It is important to be clear that the trustee is bound by the trust and as such, may not make use of the property in his personal capacity (Moffat, Bean and Probert 2009). Likewise, the beneficiary’s rights must be established with clarity and certainty so that they are in a position to enforce the trust in the case the trustee has failed to observe the terms set out. The above-quoted dictum or maxim of His Lordship will form the context for examining how principles of equity are applied in the context of trusts. In maxims of equity and trust, there is no wrong without a remedy. As Moffat (2009) holds, it is the responsibility of the court of law to offer a consideration or remedy for a plaintiff even in the case where none has been provided in the statute book. This is because, as stipulated in the ubi jus ibi remedium, a remedy exists where there is a right (McFarlane, Hopkins and Nield, 2012). Suffice to say, this underlies the entire concept of equity because, until now, the common law courts completely refuse to provide sufficient remedies in certain circumstances. For instance, when it comes to the institution of trust, common law does not wholesomely recognize the beneficiary’s rights, but such rights are

Models of art and self-management practices Essay

Models of art and self-management practices - Essay Example Modern art deals with money. For centuries artists earned money when they sold their paintings. Nevertheless an image of a ‘poor artist’ can hardly disappear from our consciousness. Artists die and only after their deaths greatness of their talents was acclaimed by public. Currently, researchers claim that â€Å"the irrational exuberance of the contemporary art market is about the breeding of money, not the fertility of art, and that commercially precious works of art have become the organ grinder's monkeys of money† (Kuspit). This apt expression characterizes a shift of the primary objective of art, which is aesthetic pleasure, to a means of enrichment. We live in the epoch of art parody. It is very hard to distil art from a mixture of different stereotypes and concepts around it. In the majority of cases, art issues are mixed with issues from political, economic or technical spheres. Opponents of this point of view may claim that art and money have always been i n interdependence. It is possible to claim that nowadays ‘art has become a dependency of money’ (Kuspit). Huge investments in art in a modern society are directed on art overwhelm. Thus a modern paradigm of art is the following: ‘money is superior to art’ (Kuspit). This can be confirmed by a steady growth of auctions. From the very beginning of history of art, its main function has always been in coding human beliefs, goals and interests. Next to correlation of art and economics, political context of art is also widely discussed. Even museums are compared to â€Å"exhibition ventures like, which contribute to the shaping and promotion of the ideas that govern our social relations† (Haacke). Consequently, artists are considered to be agents, who exert influence on the society. Different political structures, sponsors from political institutions witness the fact that there is an intention to establish relationship between politics and art. If we restor e in our memories socio-critical art of previous years, especially after revolutions, we can clearly see that art was a tool of political manipulation. For example, Vladimir Tatlin, a representative of Russian Realism, developed a project The Monument to the Third International (1920). This project has never been embodied into life, but a spirit of technical progress, a huge power of Russia after revolution was transferred by this artist. Socio-critical art has always been a powerful trigger of society ideological behavior formation. Consequently, this type of art can be saved only at times of great revolutions or turbulent historical events, when politicians involve all possible means in order to create necessary social moods in their countries. Rosler (2010) in her article confirms politicized air of socio-critical and political art: such type of art is a â€Å"robust support for revolutionary ideals or displaying identification with provincial localism, with the peasantry or wit h the urban working classes, especially using fairly ephemeral forms (such as the low-cost prints available in great numbers)† (Rosler 2010). On the one hand, the author criticizes this type of art, but on the other hand we can think about a propagation of art among public (Rosler 2010). Nowadays in spite of a high-speed technological progress and availability of technical means of communication, participants of auctions have an ability to look at masterpieces, but all the rest of the society can be satisfied by

Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez Essay -- essays research papers

â€Å"Zoot Suit† by Luis Valdez Based on the infamous 1942 â€Å"Sleepy Lagoon† murder mystery and the resulting â€Å"Zoot Suit Riots† in Los Angeles , playwright Luis Valdez weaves fact and fiction to depict the fate of 22 young Mexican Americans brought to trial for a murder they did not commit. â€Å"Zoot Suit† brings together unforgettable characters such as the irreverent El Pachuco and the charismatic Henry Reyna, an unsuspecting gang leader who finds himself caught in the middle of the racially turbulent events that rocked Los Angeles during the early 1940s. Valdez says this production exemplifies the evolution of American society. â€Å"The essence about the American experience is about cultural fusion,† Valdez says. â€Å"’Zoot Suit’ has influences that were brought on during the evolution of jazz, when you saw African American talent mixed with the American experience. The Hispanic influence is amplified through the story, style and attitude, which are really influences that every culture can relate with.† Created by playwright Luis Valdez, â€Å"Zoot Suit† made its world premiere in 1978 at the Mark Taper Forum where it ran for an unprecedented twelve-weeks. â€Å"Zoot Suit† broke all attendance records at the Taper and subsequently moved to the larger Aquarius Theatre in Hollywood to accommodate audience demand. The Canidate

In the 1972 movie The Candidate Crocker Jarmin is the current Senator for the United States and he seems to be unbeatable. Marvin Lukas has an idea to get Bill (William) McKay to run against Jarmin in the next race though Mckay was not thought out to be able to beat him. At first McKay is not convinced with the idea of running for senator. It is not ideal for him to follow in his fathers foot steps. McKay finally decides he is going to run after his wife and Lucas convince him he has what it takes. He also only agrees to run with the conditions that he can do and say what he wants to through out his campaign. He know he is not supposed to win. In the beginning of McKay’s campaign he does not know exactly how to approach the public and go about getting people to listen to him. He fails to fully obtain the interest of voters and can’t capture the words to make people believe he has good points to make. His campaign manager Marvin Lucas tries to give him advice as to how to handle questions from the media and from the public, but McKay still wants to speak for himself. When both Jarmin and McKay are speaking to the public, Jarmin constantly has the advantage over McKay. The People believe in what Jarmin says because he has more power and is able to make more promises. Also, McKay comes off as a young and naive candidate well on the other side Jarmin is an older, wiser, and more experienced candidate. McKay’s Campaign strategy of saying what he wanted, not listing to his team, ignoring his platform, and not having a stance on many political issues did not work in his favor. After appearing unaware to the public McKay decided to change his campaign strategies and become more personable. He chose to speak to more groups that felt that they were unheard. His campaign staff made his commercials to represent change and hope. His slogan became â€Å"For a better way vote Bill McKay. † His strategy to identify with the public seemed to be more affective rather then his previous strategy of being blunt and indecisive. Well McKay was trying to appear as a working class man Jarmin would try to appear as a true American. His campaign strategies focused on really showing that Americans had to work together and be united. Jarmin continually made his speeches and commercials focus on keeping the American dream. After McKay changed his campaign strategy his following started to grow immensely. He was receiving more media coverage along with Jarmin then ever before. McKay started being aired on news casts, political hearings, and his speeches started being filmed. Since McKay was receiving more coverage he was also coming up in the polls, and won in the primary elections. After McKay’s victory Jarmin realized McKay was real competition. Jarmin started to release commercials speaking out that letting McKay win senator was like letting a kid win senator. After the commercial was released McKay spun the statement a different way and stated that the country needed a new out look and needed changes, and in order for it to become better they needed new and fresh ideas. When Jarmin realized that McKay was giving him a run for his money he finally agreed to have a debate with him. Through this debate they were asked various questions, but neither one of them gave straight answers. They both talked about the questions but never expressed their stance on it. You did not get to learn much about the candidates because both were trying to please the public rather then speak strongly on and issue. After the debate McKay’s closing statement raised some chaos. He stated that the real issues were being ignored and that the questions that were being asked were not the questions that the public was concerned about. He believed that the people cared more about policy issues and those were not being handled or addressed properly. After the debate McKay’s following became so large that is team was astonished. McKay finally had a strong following and really had the people’s attention. He was giving speech after speech and was gaining more and more support for the democratic party. He was also giaing support from other politicians and more important people that could really help him out. Towards the end of the race they were only separated by three points. This is when people started to truly believe he had a chance. When November finally hit and they were waiting for the ending results to come in his father said to him â€Å" You’re a Politician, Son. † This statement eant that McKay did become what he had not originally planned. He never thought he would get involved in politics and follow his dad, but he was. With out being aware of it he had became everything opposite of his original plan. At the very end of the movie McKay and his campaign Manager had one last private conversation. It was in that moment that Lucas revealed that McKay had one. McKay’s final q uestion was â€Å" What do we do now? † This victory came as a great surprise to McKay and he did not know what to make of it, but he knew he now had to make life changing decisions not only for him self, but for America.

Substance Abuse At Tulane Reily Center - 930 Words

Last week I have been on my first A. A. meeting that was held at Tulane Reily Center. Because I have not been exposed to the issue of substance abuse before, I did not know what to expect and, frankly, was a little scared. I did not know how people who have real issue would react to me, what questions they might have, and whether they will be welcoming to the newcomers- observers or not. Watching television, I had some idea of what it would be like – chairs placed in a circle, middle-aged group of people, mostly males, depressed facial expression and stories, full of pain. Arriving there, I was surprised, shock and overwhelmed by the experience at the same time. First, I have noticed how young all of the participants are, most of them barely reaching the age of 21. There were roughly 15 people, 2/3 were females. I could not believe when I first arrived that they were there because they were having an addiction. Moreover, the atmosphere of the group was welcoming, and half of the group seemed cheerful and healthy, the other half seemed melancholic and attentive. The meeting started with the welcoming greetings from the facilitator, and she read some rules for the meeting from a â€Å"12 Traditions† book: keep confidentiality, stay in the â€Å"here and now†; make â€Å"I† statements, share feelings, no crosstalk or advice giving. There was some tension when it was time for someone to share the story, so we all sat patiently and waited when someone would finally have enough courage to talk

When it come to the earth, whether it be about its life, time created or life span you can assure there will be many different theories and beliefs. In this paper I will attempt to explain the defined theories that exist which explain the age of the earth. Many scientists believes that the earth has a life span it is aging and it will eventually die, while on the other hand religion believes that the earth was created by God or a higher power and that the only one who can destroy it is God and no matter what we as humans do we cannot destroy it. Quantum theory introduces a new idea, that of imaginary time. Imaginary time may sound like science fiction, and it has been brought into Doctor Who. But nevertheless, it is a genuine scientific concept. One can picture it in the following way. One can think of ordinary, real, time as a horizontal line. On the left, one has the past, and on the right, the future. But theres another kind of time in the vertical direction. This is called imaginary time, because it is not the kind of time we normally experience. But in a sense, it is just as real, as what we call real time†. (Hawkins, 2005) Religious followers believes that the earth was created around 1410-1450 B.C the time when the book of Genesis was written by Moses. This among other scriptures in the Bible is what religious people believe in and as far as new technology to determine when the age of the earth they still use the teachings of the Bible but from a different book. Plans of Reconstruction Free Essays

Daniel Ramirez Mrs. Toth Period 2 11/29/12 Plans of Reconstruction During the Civil War was the beginning of the Reconstruction era that took place up until the late 1870’s, which for some was a success but a failure to others. Not only was it a civil rights movement but it also re-created the southern way of life, temporarily divided a political party, broke down another, and affected the nation in ways that would have long-term consequences. We will write a custom essay sample on Plans of Reconstruction or any similar topic only for you Order Now Two of the three major Reconstruction plans were that of President Lincoln and Vice President Johnson that both sought to readmit the south as quickly as possible. Lincoln maintained that the political leadership of the South had seceded. His plan did not exclude people like Johnson’s did. President Lincolns plan of reconstruction was light on punishment of the South so that he could reincorporate the Southern section back into the Union. He argued that because of the fact that the government was indivisible secession was politically impossible, and that the war was a result of only a small rebellion that violated the authority and laws of the government. With this in mind his design of reconstruction; readmission of each state was based on 10 percent of the voters pledging loyalty to the US knowing that no more than that would be probable which rendered the radical republicans 50 percent demand illogical. Though Lincoln and Johnson’s plan did have similar ideas there were few differences some of which were even seen as illogical, amongst them was the right to grant pardons to the same people that he claimed he wanted to exclude power from. This did not help the reconstruction plan it in fact it irritated Northerners who saw senators of former offices in the Confederacy reclaiming their places in U. S. senates. Under Andrew Johnson’s restoration African America’s rights were not safe, as he vetoed the Civil Rights bill. This did not pass since Congress overturned his veto and made the Civil Rights bill an act. Lincoln’s â€Å"10 percent† plan, while perhaps not the greatest for bringing the nation together, was the best for the promoting the principles of freedom and equal rights for all in the newly reformed union. His plan unlike Johnson’s protected the new rights of the African Americans, and provided a balance between the rights of whites and them. Lincoln’s plan also made it easier for states to rejoin the Union, because this was such a very forgiving plan, it was better than Johnsons’. Under Lincoln’s Plan, it would be easiest for Confederate states to rejoin the Union, except for the three that were excluded, because the Radical controlled Congress would not permit these states’ representatives to join the federal government. If the nation had agreed to Lincoln’s Plan, racism may have been more easily overcome, and the Union would be reunited in a strong bond because of the reprieve granted. Comprehensive Case Study On Hotel Management

Question 1: What does the article say about the profile of most hotel cleaners? How does this profile compare to that of an employee working in the front office of a hotel? The article highlights the very common profile of the hotel cleaners across the globe. Regardless to geographic differentiation, hotel cleaners are preferably women, minorities, and immigrants who work in adverse health conditions like extended working hours, chemical exposure, ergonomic strain, lower job control, poor pay, varied physical as well as mental risks (Hsieh, Apostolopoulos Sonmez, 2013). These adverse exposures have provided disproportionately increased health disparities amidst service occupations, involving musculoskeletal disorders, strain injury, psychological distress and allergies. The case scenario depicts the meagre profile of the hotel cleaners who are exposed to various work hazards, and also proposes some measures to minimize the hazards for improving occupational safety as well as health of these hotel cleaners (Gomez, 2014). This profile may be compared to that of an employee working in the front office of a hotel in a way that hotel cleaners are individuals who work behind the scene, whereas those working in front office usually represent the hotel or organization. Thus, front office workers need to be much more presentable towards clients at any point of time. Moreover, they remain in the most safe and healthy environment, unlike that of the hotel cleaners who are compelled to work in the most unhealthy environment and often dealing with hazardous substances (Hutchison, 2001). Question 2: How do the authors characterise hotel job conditions, identify 3 factors? As referred to in the case scenario, the author has highlighted upon some of the factors affecting job conditions of hotel cleaners. They perform cleaning jobs in resorts, hotels and motels. They are meant to clean guest rooms for meeting quality standards of respective hotel. Their job states about the necessity to conduct customer service skills while encountering hotel guests and also contributing towards customer satisfaction. The hotel cleaners have the responsibilities such as cleaning guest rooms, public areas and hallways within hotels (Iacobucci, 2014). Their tasks include changing bed sheets, makings beds, polishing and cleaning furniture, emptying wastebaskets, washing and mopping floors, replenishing supplies, etc. Certain situations like guests checking out quite late or making rooms extremely dirty often delay processes of work. This forces the hotel cleaners to work overtime. There is a common practice by hotels to recruit cleaners depending on the variations within ra tes of room occupancy, thereby leading to seasonal, part-time or variable work hours. Under such circumstances, hotel cleaners often work for more than one hotel, or get employed in another work to make both ends meet (Krause, Rugulies Maslach, 2009). Although hotel cleaners hold important jobs, yet they are considered to belong to the lowest-remunerated individuals, and that the pay may not be compared reasonably with that of other hotel cleaners. So, it may be inferred that their pay is slightly more than the minimum wage. Question 3: List and explain briefly the major work hazards that are generally encountered by hotel cleaners? Besides extended work hours as well as low pay, there are some serious work hazards that the hotel cleaners are exposed to while performing cleaning tasks on a regular basis. Some of the broad categories of work hazards are physical hazards, chemical hazards, biological hazards, and psychosocial hazards. Physical hazards The job hotel cleaners demand tasks such as lowering, lifting, pushing and rotating mattresses, carrying, folding and tucking linen, pulling pillows, stretching and bending of equipment that involve repetitive movements (McCarthy, 2015). These tasks include heavy static muscular loads, aerobic strain, awkward postures, and overexertion work are some factors that put the cleaners at increased risk for physical injury. They are most prone to suffer repetitive movement injuries. These are termed as physical hazards that are intensified by poor ergonomic design of cleaning equipment. Chemical hazards The hotel cleaners are much exposed to chemical hazards in cleaning products used in cleaning bath tubs, sinks, mirrors and toilets, including that of solvents and ammonia which irritate skin, throat, nose, eyes and cause dermatitis and other diseases. Exposure to volatile compounds in cleaning products may cause respiratory diseases and enhances carcinogenic risks (Robert Batterman, 2002). Some products may even damage reproductive organs or kidneys. Biological hazards These are infectious agents causing risks of illness, or even death of workers. During their work processes, the workers may come in contact of broken glassware, some medical wastes, human excreta, used needles, contaminated waste and other microbial contaminants and these may put them at risks of their lives. Psychosocial hazards These include violence, stress and bullying may affect health as well as wellbeing of hotel cleaners potentially. Stress may occur when the job demands exceed the ability of the workers (Scherzer, Rugulies Krause, 2005). The cleaners perform tasks in adverse psychosocial conditions of work including strenuous work, time constraints, heavy workloads that cause them to race through jobs for meeting regular work demands. They often suffer from lack of adequate control over organization, lack of recognition or respect from managers, lack of support from all superiors and peers, fear of joblessness, etc. Constant exposure to these hazards and related stress may lead to physical as well as mental problems. Stress in turn leads to various disorders leading to depression or heart attack. Question 4: List and briefly explain four ways of dealing with the hazards identified in Question 3? It is important to safeguard the hotel cleaners and other similar workers from various hazards in order to maintain organizational effectiveness and reputation. Some of the measures that may be applied to mitigate the impacts of hazards are: For preventing physical hazards, cleaners must be give safety trainings to instruct them upon safe work practices in everyday life (Seifert Messing, 2006). Training of ergonomics may help the cleaners develop appropriate work techniques, reduce physical burden, and improve work posture. The workers need to be given adequate training sessions for making them learn various techniques of conducting work processes in order to eliminate harmful aspects. Also, workers are ensured that they take regular breaks and conduct practices to prove effective promotion of safety. For preventing chemical hazards, it is important that supervisors and managers may adequately train employees in handling cleaning products. They are required to be instructed on mixing chemicals. The spray and container bottles are to be labelled properly to avoid risks (Sherwyn, 2002). For minimizing biological hazards, any work practice which involve biological exposure must be eliminated by employers and also set up standard procedures so that the workers may follow in handling harmful wastes to avoid infections. All staffs involved in first-aid are to be trained adequately in handling exposures and that the workers are required to wear appropriate protective equipment and maintain personal hygiene (Soltani Wilkinson, 2010). As against psychosocial hazards, effective intervention as well as prevention strategies need to be developed as well as implemented to protect every individual against work stress or violence. Administrative controls like job design, job rotation, teamwork, work flow enhancement or stress management may be applied in minimizing psychosocial hazards. Superiors and managers are quite responsible in enhancing wellness and eliminating stress from work environments. Question 5: Propose three realistic strategies for recruiting and retaining room attendants? Strategies to recruit and retain hotel attendants are: At the very initial phase, the recruitment is to be conducted with special highlights to the desired tasks related with job positions. The organization is required to prepare the plan for recruitment and selection in a manner that employs the right kind of employees to the right position at the right time. It is essential to present the work criteria and conditions beforehand to make the applicants well aware of what is expected of them in order to prevent any confusion or conflict later on (Tracey, Sturman Tews, 2007). Based on the concept that workers usually quit managers and not company or job, specifies that leadership is highly essential requirement in supervisory position. To make it work, it is necessary to use employee climate surveys, and get enormously serious regarding results. The organizational managers need to be increasingly supportive and motivate the workers to perform well irrespective of their job profiles. Another strategy of recruiting and retaining hotel attendants is that the hotel organization is required to structure the pay system in a manner to attract appropriate applicants. Though the job profile may be low, yet they must not be underpaid. The workers need to be motivated thoroughly to take up jobs very sincerely. Question 6:Compare and contrast the organisational structure and duties of housekeeping departments and staff in large hotels with that of small size hotels? The contrast between organizational structure and duties of housekeeping department of large and small hotels may be studied with the help of the following figures. In case of large organizations, the structure is quite complex and vast in nature. The hierarchy is quite firm and each of the housekeeper is responsible to his immediate head or supervisor in the very same department as well as that of the topmost management (Scherzer, Rugulies Krause, 2005). In this manner a chain of hierarchical positions exist to conduct various tasks of the hotel operations (Figure 1). The hotel cleaners are liable to do only that job for which they are hired and they undertake take few pre-decided jobs. On the other hand, the organizational structure in small organizations is simple in form with not much hierarchy of positions. Here, the housekeeper is liable only to his immediate superior. In small organizations due to simplicity of organizational structure, often workers are required to undertake varied jobs at a time.
